Hydrofacial and Hydrodermabrasion

A hydrofacial is a wet exfoliation treatment. Instead of dry crystals or a blade, a diamond tip works across the skin while a serum flows over it, and gentle suction lifts away what has been loosened. It cleans out pores properly rather than polishing over them, and because the skin stays wet throughout it is far more comfortable than traditional microdermabrasion.
We use the Zemits DermeLuxx Pro, a 3-in-1 HydroDiamond system. It combines hydrodermabrasion, oxygen serum infusion and a cryo cooling step in a single session. Prices start at £120.
Is this a HydraFacial?
Not the branded one. HydraFacial is one manufacturer's machine and we do not have it. We use the Zemits DermeLuxx Pro, which does the same job: a deep cleanse with extraction and a serum infusion. We would rather tell you which device we own than let you assume.
What it helps with
Clogged pores and congestion. Blackheads and whiteheads. Uneven texture and roughness. Dullness. Sun damage and age spots. The look of enlarged pores. Skin that feels flat before an event.
What happens in a session
Cleanse, then the HydroDiamond handpiece exfoliates while serum keeps the skin wet. Suction lifts debris out of the pores. Oxygen serum is infused. A cryo handpiece cools and calms at the end. Allow about an hour.
What it costs
Hydrofacial with facial massage, £120. Hydrofacial with facial massage and LED light therapy, £150. The LED step is worth adding if your skin is congested or inflamed, and we will tell you at the consultation whether it is likely to make a difference for you.
Who it suits
Most skin types and most skin tones. A good first treatment if you have never had anything done, and a good regular treatment between stronger appointments. Often booked before a wedding or an event because there is no peeling and no downtime.
Who it does not suit
Active or inflamed acne with open lesions. Active cold sores or broken skin in the treatment area. Recent sunburn. Rosacea in flare. Recent resurfacing, peels or laser in the same area. If you use strong prescription skincare we may ask you to pause it beforehand.
A hydrofacial is maintenance rather than a one-off fix. Skin looks brighter and feels smoother the same day, and that settles over the next two or three days. Most people book it every four to six weeks to hold the result, or as a one-off before an event. There is no peeling and no downtime, so you can wear makeup the same day. Use sunscreen, and leave acids and retinoids for a couple of days unless we have told you otherwise.

Common questions
Is a hydrofacial the same as a HydraFacial?
They are the same category of treatment, hydrodermabrasion, but HydraFacial is one manufacturer's brand name for their machine. We use the Zemits DermeLuxx Pro. What it does is the same: cleanse, exfoliate, extract and infuse.
Does it hurt?
No. Most people describe it as a cool, slightly scratchy massage. The suction can feel odd around the nose for a moment. There is no numbing and no recovery.
How long does it take?
Allow around an hour for the appointment.
Will it get rid of my blackheads?
It clears a lot of them. Deep, long standing congestion usually needs a course rather than one session, and it will come back if the underlying skincare does not change. We will be honest with you about which yours is.
Is it safe on darker skin?
Yes. There is no light and no heat, which is what carries the pigment risk in other treatments. Every treatment still starts with a skin assessment.
How is it different from microneedling?
Microneedling works in the deeper layer to remodel collagen, with several days of recovery. A hydrofacial works at the surface, with none. They do different jobs and they work well alongside each other.
