Anti-wrinkle consultation in East Finchley: lines and wrinkles, assessed face to face
Softer lines without losing your expression: it starts with an honest conversation.
Expression lines are the lines your face makes when it moves: the frown lines between the eyebrows, the horizontal lines across the forehead, and the crow's feet at the sides of the eyes. At first they show only when you frown or smile. Over the years the skin creases in the same place so often that the line stays there at rest. A prescription treatment exists for expression lines. Because it is prescription-only, UK rules do not allow us to name it, price it or describe it on a website, and it can only be decided on after a face-to-face assessment at the clinic.
This page is about that assessment. It is for adults who have noticed lines on the forehead, between the brows or around the eyes and want to know, honestly, what will help and what will not. The consultation is free and there is no obligation to book anything afterwards.
What happens at your consultation
What to expect after the consultation
Who it suits and who it does not
Allow 30 to 45 minutes. We start with what bothers you and what you hope for, then go through your health, your medicines and any allergies, because all of these decide what is suitable. We look at how your face moves in good light, photograph it for your record, and tell you plainly which of your lines are made by movement, which are now etched into the skin at rest, and which are caused by something else entirely, such as sun damage or loss of volume. You then hear every option that fits, including doing nothing. Where a prescription option is right for you, it is explained in person: what it involves, its risks, how long it takes to work, how long it lasts and what it costs. You leave with a written plan, and you are offered time to think before anything is booked.
Your plan stays valid for 12 months. If a prescription option is part of it, treatment is booked for a later visit, never on the day of a first consultation, and a review is included about two to three weeks afterwards so we can check the result and adjust the plan. If your lines are better suited to something else, you will be told so. Skin boosters and polynucleotides improve the thin, crepey skin around the eyes without touching the muscle. HIFU lifts a heavy brow. Skincare from the Obagi range, cosmetic and prescription-strength, works on the surface texture that makes lines look deeper. Many people end up with a mix, spread over time, rather than one treatment.
The consultation suits adults whose lines are made or deepened by movement, and adults who have etched lines and want to know their realistic options. It is not for anyone under 18: no cosmetic injectable treatment of any kind is given to under-18s at Nova, and it is an offence in England to do so. The prescription option is not offered in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, to anyone with a condition affecting the nerves and muscles, anyone with swallowing problems, or anyone with an infection or inflamed skin in the area. Some medicines, including some antibiotics, need a discussion first. If someone else is pushing you to have treatment, we will talk, but we will not book you.
The honest limit
No treatment for expression lines turns back the clock. A line that is etched into the skin at rest will soften rather than vanish, whatever is done about the movement behind it, and deep creases often need more than one kind of treatment. Nothing we offer lasts for ever, and results cannot be guaranteed. If you want more movement kept in your face, say so: a lighter result is a choice, not a failure.

Prescription treatment for expression lines: Consultation required
UK advertising rules do not allow a prescription-only medicine to be named, priced or promoted to the public. The cost is given to you in writing at your consultation.
Risks
Every treatment we offer carries risks, and we go through the ones that apply to you in writing before you decide. Where a prescription option for expression lines is discussed, its common effects and its rare but serious effects are explained face to face at the consultation and again on the day, together with a written aftercare sheet and a number you can reach out of hours. Nothing is given without your signed consent and time to think.
Frequently asked questions
Why will you not tell me the price on the website?
Because the treatment that most people are asking about is a prescription-only medicine, and UK law does not allow prescription medicines to be advertised to the public, including by price. Any website that does so is breaking those rules. You are given the full price in writing at your free consultation.
Why do I need a face-to-face consultation?
A prescription can only be written for you after you have been assessed in person. Since 2025 UK professional regulators have not allowed remote prescribing for cosmetic treatments. The consultation is also where we check your health and medicines and work out whether this, or something else, is the right answer.
Can I have treatment on the same day as my consultation?
Not at a first consultation. A prescription option is booked for a later visit so you have time to think. Returning clients who have had the same treatment before can usually be seen more quickly.
What are expression lines?
Lines made by muscle movement: frowning, raising the eyebrows, squinting and smiling. They show first on the forehead, between the brows and at the sides of the eyes. With time they become visible at rest, and at that point skin quality and sun damage start to matter as much as movement.
Can you treat my lines if I am under 18?
No. We do not give cosmetic injectable treatments to anyone under 18, which is the law in England, and we may ask for photo ID.
Is there anything for lines that is not a prescription medicine?
Yes. Skin boosters and polynucleotides improve crepey, finely lined skin around the eyes and on the forehead, HIFU can lift a heavy brow, and Obagi skincare improves the surface texture that makes lines look deeper. Which of these suits you, if any, is part of the same consultation.
I am pregnant or breastfeeding. Can I come?
You are welcome to come and plan ahead, but the prescription option is not given in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Skincare and some other treatments can still be discussed.
What should I bring?
A list of your medicines and supplements, details of any previous treatments to the area and the products used if you know them, and your questions. Come without make-up if you can, so we can see your skin.
