Plasma Biofiller: what it does and who it suits
Plasma Biofiller is a soft gel made from your own blood. It is used like a filler to add a little volume, most often under the eyes, and it improves the quality of the skin it is placed in. Because nothing synthetic goes in, it appeals to people who want a natural option. It also has real limits, and they matter as much as the benefits.
How it is made
We take a small blood sample from your arm, about the same as a routine blood test. It is spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the red cells. The plasma is then heated and cooled, which turns it from a liquid into a soft gel. That gel is injected with a fine cannula or needle in the same appointment.
What it is good for
Under the eyes, where the skin is thin and dark, Biofiller adds a small amount of volume and improves the skin at the same time. It is also used on the cheeks, the temples and the lines from the nose to the mouth, where a soft lift is enough. People who are nervous about synthetic filler often ask about it first.
What it cannot do
The gel is absorbed by the body over a few months, so it does not last as long as a hyaluronic acid filler. It is soft, so it cannot build strong structure such as a defined jawline or chin. For a deep hollow under the eye, filler usually does the job better, and we will tell you if that is the case.
What to expect
The volume shows straight away and settles over the first week. The change in skin quality builds over the following weeks. Expect swelling for a few days and possible bruising, which can last up to a week under the eye. Avoid hard exercise, saunas and alcohol for 48 hours.
Who it does not suit
It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with a blood or platelet disorder, or with an active infection in the area. Mention any blood thinning medication at your consultation.
What it costs at Nova
