Service Description

An acid solution applied to loosen the bonds between dead surface cells so they shed, leaving smoother and more even skin underneath. We select both the acid and the depth to suit your skin: salicylic for oily and acne prone, lactic for gentler hydrating work, glycolic for texture, mandelic where a slower, safer option suits darker skin tones. Daily sun protection afterwards is essential. A first peel is deliberately conservative. We would rather build strength across a short course than overtreat once, particularly on darker skin tones, where too aggressive a peel can leave behind the pigmentation it was meant to clear. Expect tightness and mild redness on the day, then light flaking between day two and day five with a superficial peel. Do not pick it. Makeup can usually go back on the next day. A course of four to six, two to four weeks apart, suits most concerns, and peels work well alongside a sensible home routine. They are not suitable in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, over an active cold sore, or on recently tanned skin. Consultation is free at 260 East End Road, East Finchley.
